When you first come into Engineering at round start (or as a late join) you'll want to fix all the Reactors and turn them on to get the SMES's on each deck with 100% power stored. After that happens, you can start playing around with how many Reactors and SMES's actually need to be on/outputting to be power efficient.
When you first come into Engineering at round start (or as a late join) you don't need to do anything with the reactors. You can set the SMESes up to charge, (set input to maximum and output to about 80% of maximum) but this will only help if a human or xeno sabotages the reactors, which is unlikely. If sabotage does happen, in the form of humans turning off the reactors, or xenos breaking the APC, this can be easily fixed.

Remember that when you first fix the Reactors you can simply just click on them to start them after fixing everything as they start with fuel cells in.

SMESes can be found in the following locations : three in lower deck engineering, two in upper deck engineering, and one by the CIC.

If you leave the Reactors and don't return to them, they will break if they run out of fuel, sometimes it is a minor break. Other times it will take a few minutes to fix. Remember that at the start of the round the reactors already have fuel cells in them so just repair the reactors then click on them. Reactors can also break while they're producing power but this will normally only be a minor break, however if this does happen note that a new fuel cell is not required. Always examine (Shift Click) the reactors to see how much fuel is in them as when the reactors break the fuel gauge won't be powered any more so it won't display visually how much fuel is left.
If you leave the Reactors and don't return to them, nothing of concern will happen to them. Remember that the reactors automatically turn on at roundstart so you don't need to do anything with them. Reactors can't break while they're producing power, or at all. This only occurs with groundside reactors.

S-52 Fusion Reactor

The location of the Almayer's Fusion Reactors are in lower engineering which is one large open area with 18 fusion reactors that do not require setup. Right now fuel cells do not deplete, and reactors on the ship do not randomly break. However, if the fuel cells did deplete and the reactors did break, keeping all the Reactors on throughout the round would result in running out of fuel cells too quickly, keep this in mind for setup. Overall there are 32 fuel cells in the fusion reactor setup room in lower engineering.

SMESes can be found in the following locations : three in lower deck engineering, two in upper deck engineering, and one by the CIC.

Repairing The Reactors

If you leave the Reactors and don't return to them, nothing of concern will happen to them. Remember that the reactors automatically turn on at roundstart so you don't need to do anything with them. Reactors can't break while they're producing power, or at all. This only occurs with groundside reactors.

Refueling The Reactors

To refuel the fusion reactors (you do not need to do this ever as they do not run out of fuel, however a hostile human may have taken the cells out, or you as a hostile human may want to sabotage power and take the cells out) click on them with an empty hand to turn them off and then crowbar the reactor to open the fuel slot, this will eject the fuel cell into your hand or on to the floor. Then pick up a WL-6 universal fuel cell, they look like this, WL-6 universal fuel cell.png and click on the reactor with the WL-6 fuel cell in hand to replace it with the shiny new one, after that's done just click on the reactor and it'll be good to go again. Currently you can't get any more fuel cells but you can use the fuel recycler Fuel Recycler.png to slowly regen fuel back into the fuel cells.

Crit Reactor.png
Critical Fuel Levels In The Reactor
Description: This is a S-52 Fusion Reactor when it is at a critical level of fuel, when the reactors monitor is displayed like this click on the reactor with an empty hand to switch off the reactor then place a new fuel cell in. If you don't do that the Reactor will run out of fuel and have a breakdown varying from minor to major.

Note that if you click on a reactor with an empty hand and it requires fuel a message will displayed on the reactor which is:

ERROR: FUEL CELL DEPLETED. Please replace.
